Saving Henry Church Rock

A little more than a year ago, some descendants of the Church family, along with a few other individuals including Ruth and John, formed a committee to try and stabilize/restore the iconic folk sculpture created in 1885 by Henry Church, Jr. and previously known as a Squaw Rock. Back in the Classrooms!

The Historical Society has a wonderful relationship with Chagrin Falls Schools. We have been able to teach lessons within the classroom and host field trips to the museum. During the 2020/2021 school year, John and Ruth were able to teach the high school U.S. history and Government classes via Zoom. Ohio History Fund Grant awarded to Chagrin Falls Historical Society!

The Chagrin Falls Historical Society & Museum is pleased to announce that we have received a $3,700 grant from the Ohio History Connection which will allow us to digitize years 1894 through 1903 of The Exponent. We previously received this grant to digitize years 1874 through 1893. The Exponent, was the sole newspaper for Chagrin Falls and surrounding communities in eastern Cuyahoga, western Geauga, and northern Portage Counties from 1874–1899.
