Monday, March 11, 6pm – Interurban Railway History In 1897, the Cleveland and Chagrin Falls Electric Railway, known as the Interurban, was established. As part of the electric railway system that connected to Cleveland, the Interurban provided ease of travel for Chagrin Falls residents and commuters, though the rides weren’t always smooth sailing. Join Chagrin History Center volunteer, Scott Hageman, as he presents the history of the Interurban Railway. RSVP to [email protected] or 440.247.4695

Sunday, March 3, 2pm – Chagrin Falls through the eyes of Bill Watterson Join Historian John Bourisseau as looks into Bill Watterson’s early works in the Chagrin Valley Herald from 1976-1979 covering topics still relevant to Chagrin today- parking, bridge construction, and more! This program will be held at Township Hall, 83 N. Main St., Chagrin Falls. This event is free to the public, light refreshments will be served. Saturday, February 24, 11-3pm – Pioneer Day Have you ever wondered what life was like in the 1800s? Want to learn a new crafting skill? This free, family friendly event gives visitors the opportunity to learn about pioneer life in early Chagrin! We will feature early arts and crafts, such as weaving, spinning, quilting, knitting, butter churning, and live Blacksmith demonstrations!

Saturday, January 20, 2-4pm – John Bourisseau Appreciation Party Join us as we celebrate John Bourisseau’s 14 years as President of the Board of Trustees! John is stepped down as President this year, but is continuing his role as Historian for Chagrin History Center! Light refreshments will be served.

Monday, March 13, 2023- 7:00pm- Houses on the Move!– Encore Presentation. Did you know that more than 40 houses and buildings have been moved to different locations around Chagrin Falls? Join us in our Bo Burr Community Room for a presentation on some of these moves. Refreshments will be provided, this is a free event but donations are appreciated. RSVP 440.247.4695

Saturday, April 1, 11am-2pmSafety First! Join us at the Historical Society for an event with the Chagrin Valley Fire Dept. and Chagrin Falls Police department. This will be an open house but with set times for specific presentations. Follow us on social media for up to date information.

Sunday, April 23, 2023- 2:00pm- In Their Footsteps with Sandra Milton Sandra traced her ancestors who were slaves in North Carolina. She will talk about her journey to find them through research and visiting the plantation. RSVP 440.247.4695

Monday, May 8, 2023- 7:00pm- History of Fires in Chagrin Learn about different fires throughout Chagrin history. This will mostly cover buildings, manufacturing plants, and razed buildings. RSVP 440.247.4695

Tuesday, July 4, 2023- 8:30am-2pmCommunity 4th of July Celebration! Join us for a full day of free events! Pet Parade, Safe Routes Bike Parade, Ceremony, Fab Fourth Car Show, food stands provided by Chagrin Valley Jaycees.

Saturday, August 19, 2023- 5:30-8pm- Meet Me At the Fair! Annual Gala This family-friendly event will feature a live band, carnival themed games, gift basket raffle, and balloon twister extraordinaire Mark from Ultimate Party Entertainment making fabulous creations. Monday, October 16, 2023- 6-8pm: Annual Members Meeting Potluck. Members are welcome to join us for our annual meeting. Federated Church Fellowship Hall.

Saturday & Sunday, October 21 & 22, 2023- Spirits Alive! Evergreen Hill Cemetery Tour. A guided walking tour of Evergreen Hill Cemetery, meet up to spirits along the way to tell their story of living in Chagrin. Tickets are $20 for non-members, $15 for members. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP Required.

Sunday, October 29, 2023- 2pm- Spirits Alive! Virtual Evergreen Hill Cemetery Tour. Watch a video recording of the Spirits Alive! 2023 presentation, courtesy of Drone Ohio, in the Bo Burr Community Room at the Chagrin Falls Historical Society at 87 E. Washington St. This presentation is ideal for people who have mobility issues and are worried about walking through the cemetery. Tickets are $10. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP Required.
