The Chagrin Falls Historical Society & Museum will have an unveiling of our touchscreen project “Discover Chagrin Falls History”. This is a members only reception and will be held at the museum on Thursday, September 5th from 5-7pm. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to Ruth at 440-247-4695 or [email protected].

About the Touchscreen Project:
Earlier this year, we hired Cleveland company Impact Communications to develop the software necessary for a touchscreen. Together, with a team of dedicated volunteers, the Historical Society created an interactive exhibit that tells the story of Chagrin Falls. There are two touchscreens with the same program. There is a 55” touchscreen located in the auditorium lobby of Chagrin Falls Intermediate School and a 32” touchscreen in the Chagrin Falls Historical Society’s Museum Gallery.

Visitors and students will be able to select from eight categories, and within each category there will be eight items from which to choose. Each item has a description and pictures from the collection of the Chagrin Falls Historical Society. Many of the artifacts and images used are kept in museum storage and are not on exhibit. The touchscreen gives us a way to educate the public and gives them a window into the unseen collection of the museum.

The program has a student activities component. Users will be able to answer different questions related to the 64 items. These questions will complement the school curriculum and lead to an exploration of Chagrin history. Students and visitors will be able to bookmark pages which they can either email a link, scan a QR code or write down the weblink. This is a great tool to be used by teachers for student assignments.

The touchscreen project was generously supported by the following donors: The Polcar Family with matching gifts from Wells Fargo; Scott and Steve Balogh; Nancy and David Carpenter; Corinne Reid in Memory of her Husband, Alan J. Reid.
